Fantasyland in Open Face Chinese Poker is the Holy Grail
Going to Fantasyland is one of the main goals in Pineapple Poker. Getting access to 13, 14, 15, 16, or even 17 cards at once is not only incredibly satisfying — it also provides a major edge over your opponents. But what exactly is Fantasyland, and how can you get there?
What is Fantasyland?
Fantasyland is a special bonus in Pineapple Poker that allows the player to receive all 13 cards (or more in variants like Progressive OFC) at once, rather than drawing them three by three like in a normal OFC round. This provides a huge advantage, as the player can see their entire hand before setting it, allowing them to build the best possible combination without risk of fouling.
How to Access Fantasyland: Queens and better
To access Fantasyland in its most basic form, a player must place a pair of Queens (QQ) or better on the top row without fouling.
Variants With More Cards
While the Queens rule is the most common, some game variants allow access to Fantasyland with different combinations, depending on the number of cards used.
Strategies to Reach Fantasyland
Reaching Fantasyland isn’t automatic — it requires strategic planning. Placing a pair of Queens on the top row right when receiving your first five cards is very risky, as it means the middle row must now beat that pair, and the bottom row must beat the middle. Depending on the player’s experience and risk profile, they may take bigger or smaller chances.
The ideal strategy is always to adapt to the situation. For example, if you see your opponent is almost certain to foul, and you have the choice between taking a big risk (possibly fouling) or playing it safe and scoring guaranteed points, your decision will depend on the state of the game.
It’s also important to track which cards have already appeared among your opponents to better assess the odds of completing your combo.
Staying in Fantasyland
Once in Fantasyland, the goal is to stay there as long as possible. To do that, you must once again build a very strong hand with your 13 cards — for example:
- A three of a kind on the top row,
- A full house or better in the middle,
- Or a four of a kind or straight flush on the bottom row.
Fantasyland is a delicate blend of luck and strategy. Every decision in OFC matters. It’s a game that demands sharp focus — and that’s exactly what makes it so compelling!
