Between April 1 and June 30 2025, Loto-Québec posted impressive results. Total sales reached $766.5M, up 11.1% from last year, while net profits rose 9.9% to $384.4M.
Much of this performance is due to casinos and gaming halls, whose revenues jumped 17.6% to $323.4M.

The Key Role of New Tables (Poker & BlackJack)
According the an article from Journal de Montréal, the recent addition of poker and blackjack tables in several gaming halls, notably in Quebec City and Trois-Rivières, clearly contributed to this growth. These table games, once reserved for casinos, now expand the offering and attract new customers.
Jean-François Bergeron, President and CEO of Loto-Québec, emphasized the importance of this strategy:
“These improvements [the addition of tables in the gaming halls] make our offering even more competitive, particularly against illegal operators.”

Montreal, Quebec City and Trois-Rivières Leading the Way
While the Montreal Casino remains the flagship venue, the gaming halls in Quebec City and Trois-Rivières are also directly benefiting from these additions. By incorporating poker and blackjack, these establishments are coming closer to the full experience of major casinos and are managing to attract a broader clientele.

A Profitable Strategy, But to Be Monitored
Loto-Québec notes that this quarter included six more days than last year, which partially boosts the numbers. Still, the trend is clear: poker and blackjack drive attendance and strengthen the appeal of gaming halls.
With this strategy, the state-owned corporation is betting on a diversified offer to consolidate its revenues and curb illegal competition. This quarter’s results suggest it’s paying off.
